It takes some thought and planning but I have found the results very satisfyng. I would like an HD cam with manual controls but the heft, interlacing artifacts and lack of 480p60 just kills it for me.

Ken,

The FX1 offers full manual controls (no XLR in, though, but an adaptor works) and is full 1080i HDV!

Yes Keith I am well aware. I'm not a fan of interlaced though.

Yes on the manual control but the 1080 is fake (interpolated) and it is interlaced (assume another resolution-limiting vertical filter). So, as much as I like the FX1 Sony can keep it for the moment until they come out with something progressive and with real resolution, even 1280x720 is perfectly fine.
