Got my new HD1! Dead pixel :(

First the good: Love the camera. Happy so far about the HD1 decision.

Second the bad: Out of the box - a single pink pixel burns brightly in the bottom left corner of the footage. Not the LCD, but in the actual video. What a pain. I guess I'll call the retailer tomorrow. I suppose I'll be without my camera for another week or so now - which sucks because I needed to film some crap this weekend.

:(

I did too, in the upper right hand corner...but it went away.

Strange but true.

These are photo-sensitive CCDs, not LCDs. Perhaps there's a break-in.

Mine developed the lower left corner 'pink glow' dead pixel.....and it didn't go away until a new CCD was installed by JVC ....now it's as good as gold.....errr...fingers crossed!!

GOOD NEWS!

The online retailer I purchased from (BuyDig.com) is affiliated with a brick and mortar about 9 minutes from my house. I just got back, they swapped me for a good unit. Awesome.

Questions guys,

On some cameras you can turn off dead pixels. Is that how JVC service does it, or do they actually change the CCD?

After warranty service, does anyone know how much would something like this cost to fix, very roughly?

Mike,

You're gonna have to ask JVC's tech all those questions. But please, let us know the answers when you get them!
