Well it's my understanding current mpeg-2 level HDV codecs are using 13GB per hour HD- same as miniDV- so while 10GB per hour is under that data rate- it's not too far off.

25Mb/s 11.25GB/h around 19Mb/s (JVC 720p) 8.55GB/h. But looking at those articles and doing the calculations of time into 80GB drive some interesting figures come out. It would be good if they did something neat, like a high quality variable compression and GOPS/partial gops only when needed.
But unfortunately we here nothing about the new HDV Everio at CES. |
