Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Yes, the selected dealers will have the same locked price...much like Canon has done with the C series...

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

The LS300 has been getting a lot of attention interest of late, but I am wondering about the GY HM200. B&H indicates that it is due there the beginning of March. I have seen several shots from the camera from Europe but really nothing of substance, and nothing here. Seems like there should be much more chatter and video about the camera considering that early March is like…now. Anyone heard anything or seen any footage?

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

JVC will have a stand at BVE in London, which starts tomorrow - so I imagine that will generate a bit of interest as those of us who are visiting BVE will get a chance to see it/hands on with the camera and the other new JVC offerings.

Its not on my personal priority list for things to check out (when I visit, probably on Wednesday).... but I am sure those that are interested will report back with their first impressions pretty soon.

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

I was at BVE in London yesterday and had a look at the LS300 both on the JVC and CVP stands and picked up a brochure. I found it to be a very clever little camera and was far more taken with it than I expected. Assuming image quality is decent then I can see this LS300 appealing to many. I certainly found it far more interesting than the PXW-X70 (now that we know the details, cost and June 2015 timing of Sony's 4K firmware upgrade option for that little cam). Sure, as in that review Troy posted above, the EVF is poor on the LS300 - but the cam overall has a lot going for it.

One more general comment about BVE/the way the industry seems to be moving...from what I can tell. 4K was EVERYWHERE at BVE. I lost count of how many Sony FS7s I saw on all the various stands or how many times I saw 4K on signage. I'm sure I made a sound decision recently - that every camera I buy from now onwards must have 4K capability (even if it'll be a while before I expect to deliver in 4K to my corporate clients).

Wow, that's a great overview from B&H. Thanks for posting this, Troy!

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Great rundown on the three cams. Now, which one is in the budget for me?

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Hi,

questions on the JVC GY-HM 170

the 422 is 8 or 10 bit?

can be used in full manual?

which is the general level of jvc camcorder respect to Sony, Canon and Panasonic?

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

Check this video starting from 01:10 to see how much noise the camera produces, not sure how much 18db is in gain but 18DB already seems to be very noisy while 24db seems to be unusable, it doesn't look like a good low light performer to me.

Thanks for sharing the footage Jim. Looked great--and then the hand came in. Sorry to see that the camera did not do well in holding the highlights on the hand. I will keep optimistic--I am really pulling for this camera.

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

I like the footage we shot so far....we put it in tough situations. We'll shoot the rest this weekend with some night and daytime using the standard cinema mode (last week we shot in the cinema subdued mode to try and mimic a log stetting)...

Re: Three new JVC 4K cameras

I for one would like to know when the image would be falling apart at higher iso's when I would spend 4K on a large sensor camera. A clean 1600 iso is something I would expect from every camera these days but what's more interesting is how it will handle higher iso's, would you say then that 1600 iso is the highest usable gain?
