Any Monopod issues with airport security?
Would like to take a monopod on a trip; Portland to SF- Are there any issues with carry on? Or do I need to check it?
Thanks, Larry |

Re: Any Monopod issues with airport security?
I would think the TSA would have a large problem with bringing a monopod on board considering it could be made into a very handy weapon. The last time I flew and took my monopod I packed it in my checked suitcase along with a few other items I needed for the job. I figured if the bag got "misplaced" I could still do the job without the pod and the other items. I would hate to see you try to get thru security at the airport and have the nice people that work there make you leave it with them while they ask you all kind of questions in a dark private room somewhere in the bowels of the airport.

Re: Any Monopod issues with airport security?
Thanks for the response, Don!
What was I thinking? I mentioned it to my wife and she started laughing- reminded me she can't even carry a tennis racquet onboard anymore. Problem is it's just a little too long for a suitcase- so I'll have to pay for it as checked baggage- oh well, security is the number one priority. I should have thought this one through before I posted. Thanks! |

I hate my suitcase, it's a 25 inch 3 suiter and its a bear to tote around, mostly to pickup and throw in to a car BUT I can put almost anything in it, monopod, battery charger, small grandchild...whatever I need. Maybe you should think about getting a bigger boat.

Re: Any Monopod issues with airport security?
yeah, to echo what's already been said. unacceptable for carriage unless it is a medical aid. I have the misfortune of needing to use a cane, so the one I use conveniently has a 1/4 in. bolt in the top that works very well with the little ballhead that goes in my carry-on.
I always check my tripod in a bag, so if forced to check it, I'd just slide it in there |

Why Wayne, how convenient. Amazed you could find one that suited the needs so well. ;-)
