Where is the render made, on CPU or VideoCard?
I work with video from a couple of years but now I'm thinking of buying a new computer to edit and have this doubt: where's the render made on the processor or on the graphic card, because I am thinking about getting an expensive video card, but I'm questioning if it is useful or not.
Thank you very much! |

Depends on the NLE. After Effects will use both, I believe. Premiere, as far as I know, will use CPU. All renders to a spot on a hard disk somewhere you designate.

W/rare exception the CPU will take the brunt, if not the entire load, of rendering footage.

Thanks Marco and Andrew.
If anyone knows about Sony Vegas and Combustion, it would help me a lot, but I guess the CPU is the 'truck' hehehe. |
