1920x1080 = Voodoo 1888 x 1052?
I just imported HD footage via component using my Decklink HD card. The computer is plenty fast, and I tried various codecs - Uncompressed 8bit, Photo JPEG and DVCPRO HD.
In the setup, I chose the clear "HDTV 1920x1080", and the codec. I was using Blackmagic Media Express. They each imported flawlessly and played back just fine, however, at 1888x1052! (DVCPRO HD was 1280x1080 of course). I tried several times, and still no TRUE full res. I've imported HDV footage from this camera over firewire before, and it's fine: comes in at 1440x1080. What's going on? I've seen this odd "1888x1052" before, but now it's really stopping me from using my workflow.

Problem solved.. by accident
I've answer my own question, by accident. I imported the uncompressed HD footage into FCP, CCed it, exported.. and all of a sudden it was full 1920x1080!
I opened both videos, the original (listing itself as 1888x1052) and the newer CCed one, and it appears good 'ole Quicktime was hiding the overscan area for me on the original! How nice.. I comparing side by side, I could there was more image now around the edge of the 1920x1080 video - it wasn't stretched, it was actually showing more. Thanks QT for scaring me.
