Mainconcept MPEG Pro HD 2.0 + Ppro2.0
I have read alot of HDV capture and editing.
Who is mainconcept MPEG Pro HD 2.0 + Ppro2.0? Or shall i use After Effect to convert to DVD? Or Virtual dub? Or what? Anyone tested the quality of the DVD with Mainconcept MPEG Pro HD 2.0? |

MainConcept works, but pray for Cineform
I've used the MainConcept plug-in, which by the way was recently upgraded from 2.0.0 to 2.0.1, and it does enable you to edit, but you will find no joy there. I think there was a nasty memory management bug they fixed which hadn't bitten me yet, but they also fixed the excruciatingly long load times for projects using their codec.
Monitoring is limited to firewire SD unless you have a Xena or Blackmagic board for HD SDI, the audio sync is never right, playback even at the mandated SD is jerky (and glitchier since the "upgrade"), and promised export presets to Blu-ray and HD-DVD have yet to materialize. I'm not sure what your ultimate needs are, but a couple of us have written posts asking David Newman at Cineform to include XDCAM HD support in Prospect (I asked for Aspect support to peels of laughter). David told me that if ten people seriously request this, he'll possibly implement support. If you want this, post your request on the Cineform sub-forum included here. Tip McPartland |

If using HDV, buy Cineform Aspect
Arve,
I reread your post and it seems that you are using HDV. There is no reason to consider the MainConcept plug-in for HDV. Cineform Aspect HD is a very mature product that enable smooth and accurate HDV editing, and the picture quality is A-1. Storage needs are greater, but the advantages are too numerous to mention. Last project i convert HDV to DV inside the camera and into Ppro2.0 it was avi. Edit and then export to Encore DVD 2.0. Encorde do the transcode.
But I want to have the editing back to tape in HDV. So this mainconcept HD pro 2,0 is not a good thing to do? Can Mainconcept da scene detect so I can get different clip. Not only one big file when capture? Last edited by Arve Hansen; November 23rd, 2006 at 04:12 AM. |
