720P downconverted to 3:4 gives a much better image

The pictures becomes much better when downconverted from HDV 720P JVC GY-HD100 (Pal version) to 3:4 SD PAL than 16:9 SD PAL. I am using Cineform and Premiere.

This seames strange, it should bee the oposite, right?
