Deinterlacing 1080i HDV
I'm considering a move from DV to HDV, but really enjoy the progressive frame mode on my DVX-100A for sports events, usually at 30 FPS. Does anyone have much experience deinterlacing 1080i to 1080p ?

Well its easy and reasonably quick to do in software, and I think the output can look surprisingly good.
This post refers to deinterlacing to 720p60, but you could get to 1080p60 instead by tweaking the third line of the avisynth script: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=63568 Presently I go to 720p60 because I have an HC1 which has a "true" resoloution of only 1440x1080, plus 720p60 is at present more readily playable on a range of PCs and my Linkplayer than is 1080p60. (Oh and .... the same basic techniqe can provide 1080p30, in which case LeakKernelDeint is used instead of LeakKernelBob) |
