Getting realtime HD Playback in PPro
Hi,
I am looking into getting realtime playback of HD footage within Premiere Pro. I currently capture my footage as HDV and then convert it to uncompressed (1440x1080p) HD for color correction and special fx in AE. In Premiere Pro I create a video for windows project uncompressed (1440x1080p) and do the final edit with the uncompressed footage. Btw even though the footage is uncompressed I am using a lossless codec (HUFFY) which gives me a 2:1 compression. However at the moment playback in premier pro is not realitime. I am looking into solutions on how to get realtime playback when previewing in Premiere Pro w/ HD uncompressed footage. I have a Nvidia 7800GT video card linked up to dual 24" monitors. I do not have an external reference monitor, all work is done within PPRo. I have a dual pentium running at 3.5Ghz, and Raid0 drives for the video. For the sake of this thread let's assume that disk speed is sufficient. I know there are various cards around like BlueFish444, and Decklink HD but I do not understand what they will give me in regards to playback. Will they help me achieve realtime playback within PremierePro, or are they only really of any use when you want to get an external output signal ie. SDI? Thanks Robert Double |
