Can DVFilm Maker smooth out MPEG Artifacts?
Hi,
Does anyone know if processing 1080 60i HDV footage into 24P with DVFilm Maker would smooth-out any potential MPEG artifacts? -Geoff Murillo |

Since "artifact" can mean almost anything to people can I ask you what specifically do you mean, is it any of the following:
1. interlacing (not an artifact) 2. 4:2:0 color sampling issues 3. moire or dot crawl problems 4. DCT (Jpeg-like) compression problems 5. motion compensation problems Maker can address 1-3 depending on how you use it but 4 and 5 are not treated in any way. Also as general advice before you decide that artifacts are a problem be sure to show the footage to a non-filmmaker in real-time and see if they notice it. |
