Best way to export

I have lots of files to export and it is taking an hour per 8 minutes. This is defiantly putting me behind. I am looking for maybe a different way to export. Currently this is what I have:

HDV timeline
Export as Quicktime (current settings)
Final Cut 6.0.6
Quad Core 4 X 2.5 GHz
5.5 GB of memory

After the file is exported, I put it in compressor to encode for a DVD. Currently it is taking 1 hour export and 1 hour to encode 8 minutes.

Thanks for your help!

Tim, that doesn't sound right. i'm exporting via file / export / quicktime movie and it's all HD timeline. it's lightning fast on a core 2 duo imac. about 25 minutes for an hour of footage! i bring that right into idvd and it looks great. i don't use compressor at all.
