converting an HDTV .m2t file to HDV for iMovie HD edit
Hello,
I ordinarily participate on the avsforum regarding HDTV recording on the Mac. Someone has tried to edit a .m2t file that was captured from a local HDTV station using the new iMovie HD. Apparently, iMovie HD is looking for a true HDV.m2t file. The attempt failed as iMovie HD would not recognize the file. So, is there any way to convert an over-the-air ATSC HDTV .m2t file to an HDV .m2t file for the purpose of editing the file in iMovie HD? Thanks, Joe |

I suggest trying SQUARED 5's MPEG StreamClip (free)
While I have not tried mt2 -> m2t using the utility you should be able to convert from m2t to Quicktime whiche can be brought into iMovie. http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html |

Does this mean that iMovie-HD deals with native HDV rather than using the AppleIntermediateCodec that FCE-HD reputed uses, or with it convert the mt2 to the A-I-C when importing?
