Panasonic D-VHS

Does anyone know why Panisonic discontinued its DVHS decks?
We have a project that will be shown on Panasonic's Astrovision in Time Square. I would love to distribute it in HD and they would probably loan us a deck. The cheapest deck Panasonic now has that supports HD is AJ-HD130DC for $27,000. If we go for that deck what would be a good card for exporting HD?
