MPEG Artifacts
Who is experiencing random MPEG artifacts when trying to capture (and just play for that matter) footage from the HD10U?
As I am capturing takes, it seems that some setups (high contrast scenes) are more prone to MPEG artifacts. The other interesting thing is that these artifacts aren't consistent. What I mean is that they'll appear and dissapear as you replay the take. Which is a good thing because it means that the footage isn't corrupted. I use Sony 40 Advanced ME DVCam stock. I've had to replay a take 10 times to get a clean capture of it. (30 second take) I recall that during the HDV Roadshow, they had a DVHS 4000 playing converted film footage on a plasma screen and halway through the tape it was MPEG artifacts galore! Is anyone using DVHS experiencing this? |

I saw what looked like tape tear, or something, when playing footage. It happened every now and then.
Jon Fordham and I noticed pixels ("pixelvision") when we viewed it on a Sony CTR HDTV (1080i), but not when we saw it on an NTSC (SD) CTR TV. heath
