The old compare and contrast questions everyone hates

I am basically a novice, a full-time media specialist, not a videographyer, so I am puzzled as to what the
final output of your project looks like on an HDTV. That is, how much better does it look than, say using Aspect HD and a pc, and finally viewed on HDTV.

I am asking because I am not able to compare and contrast apples and pcs on this HD subject such as workflow, compression artifacts, and as I mentioned, how the project really looks on HDTV (or SD TV). I would like to purchase a PowerMac G5, but I can't find out what I really need to know.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
