Editing on PCs: hardware accelerators
Say you use Premiere Pro.
It's rather slow even on the fast PC systems, dropping frames in its supposedly "real-time" previews. More so when the number of channels/filters increases. To fix this, there are hardware accelerator cards that are specifically adjusted for Premiere Pro - like Canopus' DVStorm 2 or Matrox' RT.X 100 Xtreme Pro. However both cards claim acceleration of Premiere's previews *only in DV SD resolution* of 720x480 (or so I understand). Would they also accelerate HD files of 1280x720? |

No way -- they are SD NTSC products only.
Also Premiere is not a great RT product -- not like Xpress DV or FCP or Vegas or Edius. Premiere needs someonee lses rendering engine to be truly RT. Tht's why there are so many Premiere plug-ins.
