Plasma screen for video editing?
Obviously, I need a bigger monitor now...my 19 incher ain't cutting it.
I was thinking about moving my 42 inch plasma in here, it has DVi and component connections, but isn't the resolution too low? I thought it was around 720 lines but with and HDMI connection, would it be high enough? The monitor would be 18 inches from my face. Any input would be helpful. |

Hi Craig........
Noooo!
The optimum viewing distance for a 42" 720 vp (vertical pixel) screen is about 8 FEET! (depending on your eyesight. You can test this yourself by feeding it some 720 material and working out just where your "comfort zone" is). 18 inches from your nose and all you'll see is a wall of squiggly dots dancing before your eyes. If you want to "go large" at that range, go for something like the Dell 2804 (?) 1200 X 1920 24" screen and feed it full 1080. Even then you'll want to be sitting back a couple of feet to get "the full picture". CS |

I picked up a 28" Hanns-G on sale. Perfect for that distance.

I've never heard of that model but just recently purchased a 17" lcd HannsG for my server. After reading the reviews and seeing the price I was like "what's to lose". The picture quality is pretty darn good.
