You could also get this burner from Sony that does the backup to AVCHD discs almost automatically and fast.
http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...80n47120n47480 It won't convert and make a SD DVD but for quick backup without computer it may be just fine. Bought my SR11 the first week they came out for just under $1300. Don't know where in Toronto you may get a better deal. I am more impressed with this little cam every time I use it. Ron Evans |

Quality of SD on HD cameras (SR11)
Some postings here suggest that a camcorder such as Sony's SR11, really cant do decent SD. I believe the camera has a switch to select either SD or HD capture. But the story is that the sensor chip is really designed for 1920x1080 capture and as such, the way the pixels are laid out and the way the electronic info is drawn off the sensor is optimised for HD, not SD. Can anyone confirm this and if true, just how bad is the SD performance. I expect to be shooting a lot of SD on my soon-to-be-acquired SR11 and wont buy the cam at all if SD is not up to scratch. Similarly I have heard that large screen LCD or plasma HDTVs really dont reproduce SD programming so well though they of course are fine with HD.
