laptop editing?
Am going to get my first new computer in years, and want to use it for all the usual stuff as well as editing footage from the JVC hi-def cams.
I'm looking at the laptops and I'm amazed, 2.4 gig speeds and 60 gig hard drives, etc. Is it possible to edit footage from this camera on a laptop? Or is it too much of a hassle? If not a laptop, what kind of desktop do you guys recommend? What kind of specs do you think we'll need for good, healthy, speedy editing aps? Oh, and the usual, like a lot of us, I'm not rich, trying to make every penny count, but could possibly make an exeption and spend a semi-fair amount more for a editable laptop. Thanks in advance for any advice:) |

Recently I find myself in the odd postion of doing a lot of editing on a laptop. (My old laptop died and I found that my new laptop is faster than my old desktop editor.) I love the mobilility.
Later in the year I expect that I will upgrade my desktop editor to whatever the hottest chip (for a reasonable price) is at the time. Probably a P4 with HT, a motherboard with an 800 FSB and a gig of RAM. Until then I will happily plug along with my laptop. |
