HDV to MiniDV
Hello
Been a while since I been here. Question. My delivery to a client can only be on Betacam SP, DVCAM or MiniDV. Is it worth me shooting in HDV even if I have to record back to a MiniDV tape in the end? Is there a way of keeping the higher resolution? What about the Z1 which down-converts in camera for you, is that process better quality than shooting straight on SD. Thanks for any info |

Most think it is better to edit in HDV, then down convert. I have the FX1, and feel that is true.

If you know how to do it right, definitely go HDV and only downconvert after the edit is finished. As with everything, there are many ways to screw up and only one way to do it right. I would do some tests and decide for myself.
If in doubt, go SD all the way. |
