Panasonic TH-50PH10UK as Ref Monitor

I have a MacPro with Final Cut Studio 2 and the Blackmagic Multibridge Pro with HDMI and HD-SDI output. Currently, I use a Polaroid consumer 32" LCD to look at my HDV footage. I am upgrading and found the Pany 50PH10UK has good reviews and can accomodate either an HD-SDI or HDMI expansion card.

Does anyone have experience in this arena with this brand? Would HDMI offer similar quality output to HD-SDI as a monitoring solution?

Thanks.
