Need Help Building New Editing System at DVinfo.net

I am planning on putting together a HDV editing system in the near future. I'll be running either Premiere Pro or Avid Liquid (I am leaning towards Liquid.)

Can I get by on just the minimum system requirements? What would you recommend I buy?

I'd be willing to spend between $1,500-2,000 for everything, including monitor.

I'd check out the video guys website, they got a few primers that should get you started.

I'm not saying to buy from them, but they have a really informative website.
