Attn: UFC/MMA Fight fans & Cam Ops *PAID* shoot this Sunday, 3/25 in So-Cal
Who: Grapple TV
What: 2007 California Pankration Championships When: Call time is 10am. The promoter estimates, based on last years event and current pre-registration numbers, matches will end around 6:30pm. Where: Santa Ana College Gym 1530 W 17th street Santa Ana, California Why: Because filming an event where people are getting punched, kicked, arm locked, leg locked, and choked out is an interesting way to earn money. On Sunday, March 25th, Grapple TV will be covering the 2007 California Pankration Championships in Santa Ana, California. We are looking for additional camera operators to help shoot this tournament. Pankration, for those that don't know, is similar to MMA (mixed martial arts) with the exception that no strikes to the face/head are allowed. It is a very exciting and entertaining sport. For a sample of matches from last years event, please click on the link below (please note that Grapple TV was not involved with the coverage of last years event). http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...0&q=Pankration Grapple TV is best known in the grappling community for creating a 16 man double elimination invitational submission tournament known as the So-Cal Pro-Am Invitational. This tournament was held at the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy in Torrance, California. Over 1/4th of the competitors in the Grapple TV created tournament went on to become MMA fighters in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). For this event there are three paid positions that start at $350 based on a 10 hour work day as well as several non-paid positions for those that are looking to gain experience and develop a working relationship that could lead to paid shoots with us. We are looking for individuals who own high quality 3 chip SD cameras and a fluid head type of tripod who are skilled at keeping a good frame on fast paced action. Potential candidates must have a good attitude, a "get things done" type of work ethic, and (for the paid positions) must be able to provide us with samples of THEIR OWN work. Please note that we will be having most of the camera ops shooting from two foot high, sixteen square foot (4' x 4') platforms - an FYI for anyone uncomfortable with doing that. This event is highly unlikely to go past a 10 hour day, but if it does we will pay $75 per hour of OT for those working the paid positions. Food and beverages will be provided for all workers. $20 gas money will be given to those working non-paid positions. If this sounds like something you would be interested in taking part in, or have questions, please contact me via e-mail at ellago@grappletv.com Cheers, Mike |

Observe DC area HD100 workflow - trade lunch for knowledge
I'm not sure if this belongs in here, but I'm willing to buy lunch for someone in the DC-area with an HD100/110/200/250 and an editing suite, just to observe an hour or two of workflow. Specifically, a few minutes of run-and-gun shooting (on-camera adjustments, etc), capturing, and editing (ideally with Premiere/After Effects). I'm new to this camera and would like to learn as much as I can over a shoulder.
Thanks, Jad

Dallas/Fort Worth JVCHD110-100 users get together
This is not a job, or a gig, or any real filming.
I was wanting to get together with fellow owner/operators, have dinner, go over our cameras, friendly stuff. My Wife and I can host, we have a home just south of Fort Worth, would like to get a bi-weekly meet going on, help each other out with work, work with our cameras, ( We have a JVC HD110U cinema setup, we film weddings) and just get to know others in the area (we dont get to get out much, and we dont go clubbing) So, if your interested in getting together, meeting new people, learning more about editing (We use FCP) share tips, tricks, and eat great food, get in touch with me. Help wanted on Showreel mag's NAB booth
Hello all
Showreel magazine has a booth at NAB this year and we are looking for someone to look after it. This would probably suit someone who is looking to make contacts in the industry and earn some cash at the same time. Ideally the right person lives in Las Vegas (or is attending NAB anyway) and has a basic knowledge of the industry. There will be training and support from the rest of team, but as we have so much to cover, the person chosen must have good communication skills and be friendly, confident and patient as there will be times when they are left on the booth by themselves. We don't expect them to be experts as the job simply requires someone to take contact details, messages and give a basic description of what the magazine is about. I would prefer someone who is, or wants to be, part of the industry as this might be a good way for them to expand their contacts and knowledge. So if you, or someone you know, fits the bill please ask them to email me at denise@showreel.org with a short resume. I'll then contact them with the benefits, etc. All the best Denise ______________________ Denise Haskew Showreel Magazine |

Austin TX Real Estate Shoot
Phoenix based producer need reliable pro videographer to do a two day shoot for a clients real estate project. These are full day shoots.
My ideal candidate will have the following (and know how to use it): 1. DVX100 (a or b) 2. Full lighting kit (need to have 56k lights or CTB gels) 3. Tripod 4. Wide angle adapter 5. Jib 6. Dolly 7. Polarizing filter This is for a very demanding client that has established quality benchmarks, so this is not a beginner gig. Since there are specific equipment requirements, professional day rates will apply. Videographers with real estate experience go to the head of the line. If interested, please PM with a brief bio, list of equipment, links to examples of your work and your day rate. References may be requested. Please include availability over the next two weeks. Suitable candidates will be contacted with specific project details. |

Network around Belgium/The Netherlands?
Hi,
I'm a young filmmaker, I post on this site already for a while and quite regularly (as you can see at my post count), and at this moment I have a normal job while writing a new long feature, on a very small scale, which I would want to make independently. I'm a pretty visual director, but my knowledge about professional lightening is pretty small. Why do I explain this? There are many networks and communities in North America, DVinfo and DVXuser are great examples. But there aren't really in Belgium/The Netherlands, which I think is normal, seeing as this is primarily an American website (although there is a global audience here). I'm planning to start shooting in about a year, and now I'm already planning some things, and one of them is posting here with the question: are there people here from Belgium/The Netherlands who would want to work on an independent small film? Thanks, |

Hi Mathieu,
I am an Estonian currently stationed in Belgium and will stay here few more years. Video is not my full time job but the videography and motion graphics have been my hobby for years and fills all my spare time. According to the current plans I will leave my full time job for a year in 2008 as my wife will continue in Belgium until 2009. So I will be a "free man" in 2008-2009 and will use this time for freelance projects (who knows, maybe forever). So it wolud be nice to meet new friends and challenges. Regards, Margus Lillemägi from Overijse |

Compositor needed for short film
We are shooting a 8 minute long short for submission to local/regional film festivals. The short requires a few vfx shots, nothing too complicated for a good compositor. ANyone with skill who would be interested in participating please let me know. This is not a paid gig, just for the love and credit. We are in Oregon but you can be anywhere as I can post via FTP the shots as image sequences. Please let me know! Thanks!
