NO WAY!
That's really cool. There's a lot of family history there. My mother and one of her brothers have been archiving that history and even got involved in a book that was published on the Dahlgren family which essentially took place at Dunlieth. One of the coolest things (not related to the house) is that Charles invented a Naval canon dubbed the Dahlgren Canon. Not sure where it came from but my Grandfather used to shoot a 2 foot long model of it from his sailboat and it is now at my mothers house along with a bunch of fuse cord and wadding. I hope to gain possession of it someday! Wish I could have made it over there to shoot! My family would have freaked out!! Have a GREAT day and happy shooting!

My wife's family is from Monroe and mine lives in the very small town of Gilbert. Oh...and my brother is in Monroe now as well. I think you met him a wedding you were shooting. He is the Media Director there.

Video/Photo studio in Southern NY
Anyone near Southern NY need a studio to shoot? I recently took over some office space w/ a 21x26 studio w/ 13' ceilings. I'd like to offer it up to anyone looking for a place to shoot. CHEAP!
It's less than an hour north of NYC and close to trains.

"Videographers Wanted-Nov13 All Locations"
Hi everyone, I’m posting this for my friend, Erin Cooney, who is a
video artist making a new piece called the "Simultania Project." It’s about having people from all over the world film the same 1-minute-moment in time on Sat., Nov. 13, and then assembling the footage into an installation that plays back all those simultaneous perspectives together and in sync. It's about demonstrating how we’re all experiencing simultaneous realities in parallel with one another. The project is going really well with lots of people signed up. It’s going to exhibit in LA, NYC and partner spaces in South Africa, South Korea, Norway and Romania. It’s also going to show online in a flash format at The Simultania Project and StreamingMuseum. NPR’s All Things Considered is profiling the project on this Wednesday’s show, on which she'll be doing an interview. Here's audio from her talking to Leo Laporte on his show 2 Saturday ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gphmXvPV ... ture=email It would be AMAZING to win the participation of people like those in this community - people who actually know how to shoot some quality footage/sound. She is certainly willing to give credits. She is especially trying to get nature-lovers to film because she wants the natural world to be included in the installation to remind viewers that life is going on in people-less places at all times too, even in the midst of our hectic lives. She's also looking for good audio recordings as audio is going to be a big part of this too. Mostly, she just wants people to shoot whatever they want. She's been telling people that it's an opportunity to show what it's like to experience the world from your unique point of view, whatever that means to you. Thanks so much everyone-- Erin just discovered DV Info and has been impressed with this forum and how incredibly helpful the various resources have been, just in terms of learning about professional video and the people, like you, who shoot it... She extends her invitation to you, along with her "thanks!" This sounds pretty cool. It's similar (but different) to the One Day On Earth project that just shot and is being assembled. I'll check it out and see if I can contribute.

Agreed Garrett...
Might be time to pull out the "big camera" and do a nature shoot... Need to see what's going on in the community Saturday Morning... Or maybe find a nice spot in nature. :)

This is interesting, i wanted to participate in the Youtube movie but never got round to. This looks like my second chance!
So just to be sure, on Sat, 4:00PM London/Casablanca time, i need to go to my intended shooting location, film my watch, then carry on filming for the next minute, and my footage is adequately time-stamped? |

Simultania Timestamp Instructions
Glad to see you guys also participating in this cool project this coming Saturday...
Jordan, the way Erin (and the Simultania Project) tell it, you can shoot the face of your watch, or computer face (if it is nearby...possibly a laptop if you are outdoors where you can get a clear shot), or, as I am going to do on my shoot, I have downloaded the $1.00 application from the Apple App Store, which puts the "world clock" on the face of my iPhone. I can shoot 10 or 15 seconds of that prior to the beginning of the "one minute moment" without any interruption, of course, continuing right into my subject. Just check out her website for the "time-stamping instructions" ....on the links to her site provided my opening post of this thread, above. Hope You All Can Make It, John Reilly |

To time stamp I'm planning on pulling the website up which has the official time counter on it, on my handy Android phone and shoot that as the time stamp. No need to be near a computer.
This should be fun. I'll most likely be shooting nature stuff since my minute on the West Coast in the USA occurs at 8:00 a.m. my time. Too bad it didn't occur these past two days. a raccoon just died in a ditch near my house and there were a bunch of vultures gathered around it. It was a really eerie sight, something out of a horror movie. -Garrett |

Hi! This is Erin from the Simultania Project. I just my membership to enter the forum.
I'm so excited you guys are participating! And all those time-stamping methods you guys mentioned are perfect. In fact, another participant just let me know of another app (a free one too; sorry about that John ; )) that hooks up to the NIST time-clock. It's called Emerald Time and you can get it at Emerald Time for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store. So excited for Saturday! We've got people from 6 continents taking part to film simultaneously. So cool. |

For crew crewscontrol.com and icrews.com are ok. For acting talent though I'm not sure.
