NY shooter/editor seeks gigs
Greetings.
I just found out that a company that I was subcontracting for as a shooter and editor is going out of business, so my calendar has opened up significantly, both weekdays and weekends. Live in lower Westchester County, NY, conveniently located just 30 minutes from NYC and northern NJ, and 20 min. from southern CT. Have car in good shape, know the tri-state area well. I've been shooting for 12 years, the last three with my XL1. (have also shot with VX2000 and PD150) Have shot corporate video and a couple of thousand weddings, also was sole camera operator for a recent indie feature, using my XL1. Have been editing for about 4 years on the company's DPS Velocity system, also have my own system with Adobe Premiere 6.5, will be upgrading to Premiere Pro soon, also getting a MAC with FCP by end of July. Accessories: "pro mini DV shoulder brace" for the XL1 from Studio 1, excellent piece of equipment, shot portions of the feature with it, resulting in very steady hand held shots. Bogen tripod, w. GlideCam jib arm for tripod, extends to about 20 feet up; Lowell light kit with three totas, various wattages, Bogen stands; wireless mike system. Have wedding demo DVD, also DVD copies of weddings shot and edited by me, & lots of raw footage from wedding shoots available as well. Also have trailer I edited for feature I shot, and raw footage from the shoot available as well. Education background: B.A.- communication arts from Hofstra U., concentration in film/tv production. Contact info: Bob Andren 914-576-9429 email: BA2119@aol.com Reasonable guy, reasonable rates. Thanks for any consideration. |

Help Sponsoring a training program
Hi Everyone,
I dont know if this is the place to post this topic. If not I apologize in advance. For the last 2 year I have undertaken a rather fun hobby, and that is teaching kids in the 11 to 18 year age group all I know about shooting and editing. I have been using the panasonic ag-456, and the Supercam to teach shooting. I have used the casablanca system to teach editing. All has gone well until a few weeks ago. Do to a bad storm and a leak in the roof, all the equipment that I was using got destroyed. The equipment was mainly my old equipment that I used for wedding and deposition shooting. As such, I didnt insure it anymore. My home owners policy gave me just enough to fix the roof, and replace the S-vhs decks that were also destroyed. Luckily only my keyboard for the casablanca was destroyed. I should have a replacement soon. Does anyone know where I might be able to go to try and solicit donations for this program? I am presently looking into trying to form a non-profit organization called Ricks Video-Maniacs. This whole process is lengthy and some what costly too. I am tempted to continue teaching these kids using my pd-150, but I use that camera for a living, and could not take a chance that something might happen to it. The supercam was my back-up camera. So in essence, I am taking a chance shooting events with no back-up camera. I am a guy with limited means trying to make a difference. So I hope I can get assistance from the forum. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi from Boynton Beach
Hi Heath,
Please send me an e-mail with a bit more history and your requirements, I am presently scouting out help for a gig I may land soon. The gig is a half hour Showcase aired every once a week during the fall season. Seems like this would be right up your alley. I can't be more specific until a contract is signed, but we will be covering an area from Deerfield Beach to Port. St. Lucie. Rick |

Rick: that sounds like a nice program you have running. I have
moved your post to a more approriate forum and I've also made the post stick at the top of the forum so people will see it longer.

hello chris,
i saw your name in another thread (somn about maine or somn) and was about to email you but i have my finals tonight so i'm a bit tied up as of right now (@work). anyway i have this project i wanna do during july and august, but NH to Boston is a LONG drive!!! =). i will email you the script tonight. now... your HD cam. we don't have HD-DVD yet... how do you wish to distribute what you record on the HD cam on home media, regular DVD? i know the look of HD cam on DVD surpasses DV cam on DVD but still... i had the choice of buying a HD cam earlier this year and went with xl1s cause there is (now) no media to contain such high quality resolution. the other thing i was thinking is that no HD cams (under $5k) now have interchangeable lenses like the xl1s. i know HD can go film easily but after theatrical run people still like their DVDs =).

May need help in Central Fla on 7/24-7/25
Anybody interested? The shoot would be two full days, shooting a Youth Soccer League Tournament. Waiting for details, pay, etc. (Isn't that always the way it goes?)...
Request was for a Sony PD150 or equivelent, but I'll be using my GL1, and would like the same cam. Decent telephoto lens a plus. Sports experience would also be a plus.
