Problem with Canopus ADVC-55 - HELP!
Just bought a Canopus ADVC-55 analogue to digital video converter to digitize some old Betacam SP tapes.
I plug the player into the converter through phono and then the firewire into the computer. The problem is when I go to capture the video, it only shows up in black and white. The signal is clean and the audio is fine, there is just no color. I have tried it with Sony Vegas Pro and iMove HD, but have the same result. I have also changed cables and connected a different input to the converter but again the problem persists. Does anyone know what is causing this, and how to fix it? It's a real pain as these things are not cheap to buy! Thanks

Check the DIP switches to make sure the device is set to PAL. If you need to change it, make sure you power cycle the device before attempting another capture.

Yep, that works!
Interesting because the DIP switches were set to PAL, as it was capturing off a PAL camera. I set all the switches to "off" apart from switch 1, which I set to NTSC. Odd but it worked. Thanks!
