A simple edius 5.0 Project Setting question

First time user of Edius 5.0 I am using mini dv tapes from my Canon XL2 camera, for some reason have not been able to capture anyting from camera of sony deck.

Here are the Project Settings what I am using; Ouitput device - Generic OHCI ST NTSC
Output format - 720 x 486 59.94i 4:3 and Rendering format DV AVI

Any help will be appreciated we are not computer people. Have not been able to find answer to this problem from Canopus help site.

Thanks in advance - Mary

Does your computer seen the camera when you power up?
Also I'm guessing your input setting is the Generic OHCI ( Firewire)
