HDV decks

Does anyone know... are any of the currently available HDV decks (or cameras) able to record to HDV from a video input when not going via firewire?

None of the HDV decks can upconvert from a standard definition video source, if that's what you're asking.

I was wondering if any could record from an HD source, i.e. Component HD, HD-SDI etc. Or, is there any way to buy an add on box to convert these HD signals into HDV via firewire (I know Canopus makes a converter box but it costs £4500)
