opening .M2T files
I just can't get this mac to do it. Does anyone have a good link to download something that will open it?

Also if I get a HDV camera and it won't open .m2t files will I have a problem using a camera like the Sony V1? Or is this just two different issues?
Can't you capture then output QT, wmv or something? |

VLC is the program you need to view .m2t on a Mac.
Also, both Final Cut and Avid (your main choices editing on a Mac) have their own formats for cutting HDV. Don't sweat it.

Thanks Nate. I tried that VLC and I don't have many problems with my mac. But after I downloaded that it froze up and did some weird stuff. I trashed it.

VLC is generally accepted to work fine, if a little user-unfriendly.
It's the only game in town to play .m2t on a Mac. The good news is that it's generally only needed to view samples from this board! When I really am interested in seeing what a sample clip looks like on my HD CRT, I open the m2t in MPEGSTREAMCLIP and then convert it to HDV QT or DVCPROHD QT, and then play out of Final Cut to my monitor.
