Can my Powerbook handle HD?

I have a Powerbook G4, with 1,25GB RAM, a 60GB 5400RPM harddisk, a nVidia GO 5200 with 64MB memory and DVI output (on a 19" screen). I am running OS X 10.4 Tiger and Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD.

My questions:

1. Can I get the HD files of a HD camera and convert them to a PC file?
2. Can I render/edit the files on my computer?

I already know that this is not the ideal setup for a HD workflow, but for now, I just want to know if it will work, how slow it may be. I am planning on buying a new computer in march/april which will solve this problem.

Thanks for your help!
