When will we see 1/2" HDV?
When DV first came out it was great but it wasn't given much thought from broadcasters until the 1/2" and 2/3" DVCAM and DVCPro cameras came out.
If HDV is taking the same type of path as DV did when do you think we will start to see cameras like what the SONY DSR-300 did for DVCAM? I know SONY at some point said the Z1 was the mid range of their HDV cameras. Do you think their high end will be sort of what the DSR series was for DVCAM? |

I don't know about a 1/2" or a Sony model, but JVC's targeting a 2/3" model for July 2006...

The JVC is a little high in cost. I am hoping something in between will come out. Based on the cost ratio of a 1/3" DV camera and a full 1/2" DVCAM camera I would think there could be a 1/2" HDV for around $10,000.00 - $13,000.00.
