FX1 Wind noise reduction mode

Was doing a shoot in high wind yesterday and I could not stop the hiss getting into one of the microphones. So kicked in the wind noise reduction feature, and hey, it worked wonders. Every else -seemed- to sound OK, but I am suspicious about this, because I am sure it's reducing some of the frequency range. Am I right in this, should I continue using this feature??
