What's the gossip and new unveilings for HD Cams at NAB '08?

I'm aware of Scarlet, and know we'll see the new Sonys, but does Canon, Panasonic, etc... have any new incarnations of the XLH1 or the HVX200 on the horizon?

Thanks,
Lonnie

Panasonic's NAB announcements have already been posted here:

Canon typically won't make anything public until the very eve of NAB.

Don't know if Sony has anything else besides the SR7 / SR270 already shipping.

I love some good speculation and conjecture, but am about sick of all the Scarlet crap out there. In this case, Red's internet fueled marketing hype has served only to tick me off. Just tell us what the freaking thing will do or don't say anything so soon before NAB.

Now that B&H is listing the FX7 as discontinued, I wonder if Sony has a few more cameras to announce. We'll see.

Oh, and is there any chance we'll ever know what happened to the technology from Reel-Stream. Maybe Juan will show up in one of the big boy's booths this year.

This is what I am waiting to find out. Their camcorders that they brought out at CES are nice, but too small. I guess I shouldn't be picky about size, only about performance. But I wonder how those little, tiny consumer cams can measure up to the larger three chip camcorders (like the now discontinued FX7). And, how can you get your fingers to work with such small....everything?

the antidote is to just stop reading it until the prototype is unveiled at NAB...

Is that the Sony Z7 and S270? I'm not aware of the SR7 or SR270, except the consumer AVCHD SR7 model.

I don't know. I think Sony probably figures the V1u will be their lower end prosumer camera, and the new Z7 will be the higher end. Of course I did think that the Z7 was the Z1 replacement. I guess we'll know more at NAB.
