I have noticed the same on my MacBook Pro.
The files play fine in Mac OS but not in bootcamp with WinXP booted. I was wondering if I had to buy the MPEG2 update in XP to be able to play them. Apparently not, reading your post. The fact is that not all QT codecs work in Windows anyway. The only work-around I see at the moment is to re-compress into another codec like QT Motion JPEG A or SheerVideo from a Mac to be able to play in XP. It is more an issue of the codecs of QT player Apple makes available for Windows rather then the other companies. And the Codec chosen by Focus to encode their files on the DR-HD100. They most likely have chosen this codec for best performance and quality on a MAC, instead of focussing on compatibility with Windows. As a Windows system handles the M2T format better anyway, with for example Premiere or through Cineform Codec.

FS4-HD not communicating to JVC HD100
My FS4-HD is not responding to the camera controls on the Camera. They're not communicating. I press the "synchro slave" button on the FS4, connect the firewire and set the JVC HD100 menu to other>1394 rec trig to "syncro", At this point the FS lcd flashes from blue to pink and when I hit the record button on the JVC I get a "Trigger to HDV" message. The status light on the side of the FS4 always flashes RED. This is all WITHOUT a tape in the camera. When I put a tape in, time code runs and I think the unit works. Isn't it possible to use the unit without a tape inside?

cannot connect dr hd100 to computer
I have successfully used the dr hd100 with jvc hd200 for 6 months now. All of a sudden, it no longer connects to my G5. The dr hd100 just reboots and never connects. The only changes I made were changing the settings to DV from HD. Any suggestions?

Should I buy the MR HD100 Hard Disk Recorder??
I have a limited time, unique opportunity to purchase a MR HD100 for about $1000. I am told it lists for almost $2500 but I haven't been able to determine a street price. I have a JVC GY HD-110 with an AB Trimpac 14 battery set-up. Three questions - is this a really great price? Is this a really great unit? And, will it mount on my camera with the battery set up I have? Thanks very much for any feedback!!

Hey John,
Would this work with other HDV camcorders? I have a NTSC camcorder which is HDV (although it would only matter in SD mode I guess). |
