eliminating mulitudes of clips... (FS-4 HD)
I am wondering if there is a means of getting longer clips, while shooting in synco slave mode on my XL1, and also my XL1s
My editor is used to working with longer captured clips from tape... and it really can be a little overwhelming on larger projects. How have others handled this? Have I missed some sort of setting? Thanks for any advise! |

Your clips on the FS-4 will be exactly the same length as each of the recorded clip on the tape. A new Firestore clip starts each time you begin recording. After dumping the Firestore clips to your hard drive, you've eliminated the need for the time-consuming routine of marking & capturing from tape.
I put added info in the email I sent you.

When you import the clips, you can import all of them as one clip instead of multiple clips. Danny Fye pointed this out for us as a workaround to many having gaps/jumps between clips in Sony Vegas, but it is exactly what you are talking about doing. Fat32 limits the clips to 2GB file sizes, that's the reason for the split.
The workaround is posted here: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=85791 |

Looks like a good work around for Vegas users. I imagine it can be adapted to other NLEs, as well. I've never explored it, since I prefer to work with the individual clips. This might be the answer David was seeking.
Cheers
