Firestore and weather
Hi,
The tv station I work for just bought me a Z1 and a Firestore. I was wondering how well the Firestore handles in cold weather, especially when it comes to battery time. Thanks, Jeremiah Hall |

I always use the "have twice as much as you think you will need" rule.

Get them to get you extra batteries. You'll need them anyway.

I was out shooting this weekend in ~0F weather (perhaps -5F). The firestore (FS4ProHD) was less than thrilled. The 180 minute batteries were giving me approximately half an hour to 45 minutes of runtime, and after about an hour the unit started giving "over temp!!!" warnings, which I imagine were slightly erroneous...
Not terrible surprising of course, I didn't expect it to work in that sort of weather. |
