FireStore Incompatibilities
I am testing the FireStore (v2.0) with several of my cameras. It works well with the Sony TRV-900 with minor glitches that one can work around.
The FireStore also works with the Sony DSR-200. The FireStore does NOT work with the Sony DSR-300 (no firewire port) NOR the DSR-300a. Videonics cannot tell me why and plans on testing due to several complaints. I plan on testing this further and can provide further information as I use it. |

Thanks, Dan... please keep us advised. I don't have access to these cameras myself so this is a big help.

FireStore w/SonyDSR-250
I have now recorded hours upon hours of video using the FireStore FS-1 with the Sony DSR-250 and CoolDrives 80G external firewire drives. I am currently editing with the video (all in .avi format) in Adobe Premiere 6.5 with good results. The video is as good as the original tape (as it should, being DV).
I do have some glitches when using the Sony DSR-250 as a tape deck to record to the FireStore. Every so often I get a high pitched audio bleep causes by every other sample going to full negative (minimum). I have to use audio software to get the negative samples removed. I am not sure what causes it. |

The Focus folks are here at DV Expo. Tomorrow I'll point Matt McEwen to this thread and you'll probably hear a response from him shortly. Hope this helps,
