FS-CV with Canon XL-H1A Cutting off End?
Good morning, everyone! I'm new to the forum, and new to the world of DV acquisition, so please excuse any obvious blunders on my part ;) My organization is in the process of evaluating high-definition cameras and digital acquisition equipment. Right now Canon has given us a loaner XL-H1A camera (along with a preproduction XH-A1S) and a Focus FS-CV Firestore device for tapeless capture. Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with the Firestore. Whenever I press the Start/Stop button to stop recording, it cuts off the last second or so (maybe a little less) of the clip.
My first thought is that it has something to do with the delay of the DV going over firewire (that is, if you compare the image in the viewfinder with the image being pumped out over Firewire, the FW image is noticably behind the VF image.) My thought was that while this delay exists, there isn't a corresponding delay when the FS-CV stops recording, leading to the last bit of the clip being cut off. Aside from the obvious (and unfeasible for our purposes) suggestion of just waiting longer to stop the clip, does anyone have any ideas as to what can be done about this? Thanks so much in advance for any help! |

Try setting the recording mode to " Retro Cahe" That stores up to 10sec of video prior to the record button is pressed. This is in the "Record Screen" * Normal * Retro Disk * Retro Cache * Loop Record Hope this helps

Rob,
Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, the issue is with the end of the clip, not the beginning. |

I'm testing a FS-C on my XL-H1a and the FS-C is missing video and audio on both the front of the clip and the end of the clip.
Has anyone else experienced this?
