FS-4 output help
I bought a used fs-4 a while back and just shot stuff on it today. I can playback vie the cam so I know the video is there. I can't get my computer to recognize the fs-4. I connected with a 6-6 pin firewire. Then went into the DD dive. There, when I hit 'enable' it comes up saying 'failed'. Any guesses on what the problem might be?

Stupid question from me, are you connected to the output firewire port (Top right hand side as you look at the drive) I connected my cam to this on a shoot and of course it didnt work heheh. Thank heavens for tape back up :)
If it is definitely connected to the computer via the I/F port and it doesnt work, only things it can be are: Firewire port on computer not working (If your cam works through this then it is OK) Fire wire port on the FS 4 is broken - expensive Firewire cable is broken - cheap fix Firewire driver not installed correctly (if camera is detected on Firewire, then it is OK) Ian |

Thanks Ian. I can be an idiot at times. :) Yes, I had connected it to the DV i/o and not the computer output. I wasn't really concentrating on the task at hand on my first attempt. Thanks for the info. It was a big help.
The firestore seems like a nice piece of gear. -Don B.
