FireStore by Videonics
I have read about this VCR type video capturing device that will interface with the xl1/xl1s through the firewire connection. What it does is that it controls the camera and captures videos saving it as files into any connected firewire hard drive.
After capturing you can the connect the firewire hard drive to your editing computer for post production. I am planning to buy this device .... does anyone have an experience with it good or bad. Please Advice, advice, and comment. thanks Manny |

Hi Manny,
Funny you should mention FireStore... funny... because I have one. But, I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Still waiting on an external FireWire hard drive. I know, I'm nuts... I had CD's before I ever had a CD player... DV tapes before I ever had a DV camcorder... now I have a FireStore but no way to use it just yet. Coming up after, oh, say October 20th or so, I'll be posting my experiences with the FireStore on DVinfoNet. And most likely talking about it a lot here, as well. Since it works for all DV camcorders and not just the XL1, I'll probably move this thread over to General DV Discussion. Hope you can hang until then. There's a lot of product info about the FireStore at the Videonics website. I can't wait to try mine out, and write about it. Sorry about the delay, |

firestore
That's good to know that you have the firestore. I will be eagerly waiting for your feedback. Since I am considering to acquire it to replace my DV 500 from Pinnacle Systems.
Looking forward Manny |
