Firestore reliability and compatability with old cams?...
Hey guys, Im new to the forum and after lurking for a while ive decided to make my first post!
I am a complete novice and alot of the stuff on this forum goes way over my head, so please bare with me ;) When I first discovered the forestore poduct (fc4hd) I became very excitied. I saw it as a great way to give older cams a new lease of life. There are plenty of cams out there (on ebay etc) that I would be concered about buying for fear of having to go through the costly exercise of service and replace things like the heads (xl's, cams like that). So the way I see it, with a firestore, I could take what is still a great cam capable of producing excellent images and simply bypass the tape section. Have I missed something here?? Are all firewire outputs able to provide a live feed? even older cameras like a xl1 or vx1000e?? Also, though it seems like a great idea, are there reliability issues with this device? Many thanks guys Jim tbip2001@yahoo.co.uk |
