firestore back to tape?

I am shooting an XHA1 and HV20 and now using the firesotre pro 100, whats great is I am shooting some tests and run throughs tapeless with this and plan to do that all the time since its basically free to shoot and instant access and can delete the tests or runthroughs whenever. However, I am curious if there are things I capture that I eventually want to keep (raw footage), and I want to have a tape of the raw footage unalterered for archive like I normally would have, digital dvd/harddrive/bluray aside, what I want to know if I play back to tape through sony vegas or if I can I would do it through the unit, either way, is there any loss becuase of the encoding of a compressed mt2 file or is it just like a firewire harddrive transfer or copy, 1 and 0's with no change since it is just copying the raw footage back to tape?
