Square pixels?

Hey guys. I'm new to the whole web content thing. Most of my work has gone to dvd or the web versions were simple and not real critical. But now I'm working on an online series and really need to pay attention now. I shoot with an XL-2 and always in 16x9. Now I know computer monitors view in square pixels, so does that mean everything i render out should be in square pixels? If I have read this correctly I can either adjust the fram size to view the correct image or use square pixels. My plan of action is output a dv avi out of premiere and then export that out of QT pro using the H.264 codec. Now my test renders have show that square pixels give me the letterboxing but is that my true/best image? Any help on this would be great, thanks.
