Nathan,
They seem a bit high priced considering what they offer. Here is a link to a thread talking about web hosting: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...ht=web+hosting I am also in the market for a more cost effective web host. My current provider is getting a bit to expensive. |

another idea
Nathan/Paul,
What I have found (simply by luck) is that you need to hook up with a reseller that you know and can trust. Sort of the same model that Chris runs this site by with the sponsors. I have this guy who cleaned up my logo, and did some mega database stuff for our webpage at work(which will end up over 10,000 pages). After talking to him extensively during both processes, he mentioned web hosting..........he had some good deals for hosting our mega site above, and he asked me how we were doing with RCP. I got into a conversation with him about "what if I have movies/trailers etc", then he mentioned he was a reseller and basically had unlimited bandwidth since no one was really watching because he paid a "canned cost" every month. I've put up all the movies that my oldest son has made in school, so he and his friends can have fun showing off their "shaky cam" <;~) work..... I've even tested it by this method..... have you ever heard of the site [H]ard OCP? www.hardocp.com The same son I speak of above does modifications to PC cases with laser etched windows/blowholes/LED's/on and on, they also mod cars for those annoying "bumpin" stereos you hear at the stop light 5 cars back. Anyway, that site gets over 6 million unique IP hits a month, so if you add a series of photos to their message board and is in a popular thread....well you do the math, and I think you get the point. bye-bye weenie webserver after about a couple of hours is the real live potential impact. My son and his friend advertise their home brewed custom work via that website, and I host the pictures for them. At one point, on a very popular thread after my son made the first laser etched window he was getting 3 hits per second(per photo) for 8 straight days on a series of uncompressed digital photos. No word was ever peeped from my "reseller" friend about using too much bandwidth. Later he and I chuckled about it when I told him what was going on. Get the point? Find a friend in your area who is a reseller with no cap. I'm not going to expose my "friend" here, because he might get slammed with the members here (and word of mouth to boot), and blow my "good thing". Like I said, I was just lucky to run across this guy but you can find one too. Look local............
