Flash movie size? Preload?
I am upgrading my website och want to show my videos in a new size, 720x405. Testing some different Flash compression.
LentoVision: havskust What do you think of this size, about 800 kbps, is it too heavy? What about preloading, do you like that? Thanks in advance, |

The flowers seem to look OK but the seashore could use higher bitrate. And both of them have relatively little movement; if you have videos with more action or pans/tilts, for this picture size you will have to go probably 1Mbps or even higher for good looking video.
You may want to try mpeg4/H.264 instead of flash; my tests show significantly better quality compared to flash at the same bitrate. The flash player will play it back just as it would play flash; the only place there will be problems is on older/slower computers as the local computer has to decode on the fly. If the preload should take place in the main player window... well, it's not there. |

Thanks, Ervin,
Do you mean that I can substitute the flash movie, just like that? OK, IŽll do it ... I just checked the downloading time for a movie at my place - around 30 seconds. Yes, that is far to long for my site. I just canŽt have people, possible customers, waiting that long for a movie. I will ask friends and relatives to watch the movies and the download time. How long did it take for you, Ervin? Last edited by Sverker Hahn; January 30th, 2009 at 02:11 PM. Reason: Better language ... |
