Suggestions for web design with players at DVinfo.net

I am so lost! I have crammed my head with info and my brain is fried! Im new to web design and I am trying to figure how to build my site so I can display demos of my work. i finally just built a generic site thru my host so I could get my site up and running but my plan is to create the web site I want and replace my exhisting site. what i am confussed about is what applications I should use to build my site so I can have my demos played. Ive heard a lot about wordpress but isnt that like a blogging app? And JW, how do I incorporate that player with the app I use to build my site? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
