FCS 2 Upgrade Path.
I had purchased Production Suite a few years back and upgraded/crossgrade to FCS1 sometime last year. I was hoping to upgrade now to FCS2 and have just bought the upgrade package for FCS (which remains as yet unopened).
A query - i do not have the original discs for Production Suite (returned for the crossgrade), but also cannot find the serial numbers - would the upgrade to FCS 2 work with the serial number i have for the FCS1 Crossgrade? |

After the cross-grade, I didn't need to use any older serial numbers when installing FCS 2 - The installer did need to find the older versions where they should have been installed and then needed the new numbers (to operate) once it was all installed.

I would hold off on upgrading depending on your hardware, and how much you use soundtrack pro or motion. Soundtrack Pro 2 is nearly unusable right now due to export and sync issues, not to mention effects bugs galore.
Motion 3 is unusable on macbook pro's with the latest update- very unstable. FCP seems to work ok, but there is a question as to whether the sync issues in roundtrips from soundtrack pro are an FCP or STP problem. Check out the apple forums and decide for yourself on upgrading. |

Not to mention some goofy UI in Compressor ( that takes a bit to get used to) and the fact that exporting any timeline out of FCP into Compressor that contains a Motion file brings up an error message and a failure.
Still worth the upgrade though... |
