What format to export in FCP4 for iDVD?
I need to export a movie in FCP4 to iDVD. I have a few questions that wasn't answered as I did a search.
1. What format and export settings are best for full screen TV resolution from FCP to iDVD? 2. What's the best way to add chapter markers? Just a standard timeline marker in FCP where I want a new chapter? I might have a few more questions as this is my first project in iDVD. I will add them to this thread. Thanks in advance. |

1 Export as Quicktime Movie NOT Quicktime Conversion. Export using Current Settings. Making the movie self-contained creates a large file (that will take a while to export) that remains independent of your FC projects. Kepping it non self contained creates a smaller reference file that looks to your original files. Before you export, make sure you mix down your audio (Sequence>Render Only>Mixdown)
2 Create chapter markers in your timeline. Place the playhead where you want the marker, double tap the M key to get the Marker submenu. Name the chapter if you want and number it. Select Chapter marker. Do not erase <Chapter> ... that won't actually show thru. When exporting as Quicktime Movie, select Chapter Markers. Make sure nothing in your timeline is selected in your timeline. iDVD automatically creates a chapter marker at the head of your project; it will be called Beginning in iDVD. You can rename that there if you so desire |
